LISTERINE® ULTRACLEAN® Mouthwash

I received a sample of LISTERINE® ULTRACLEAN® COOL MINT Antiseptic Mouthwash through Crowdtap to facilitate my review. My blog represents my own opinion and experience with full authenticity.

I have used Listerine for years, however, I haven’t been as WOW-ed with one of their new products as I was with this one! It’s absolutely incredible. It’s the Listerine you dream of that’s powerful, but light in the mouth. It’s ultra strong with the alcohol content, so be careful if you’re already sensitive to the regular Listerine. It made my entire mouth feel that “ultra clean” by deeply cleaning my gums, teeth, and tongue.

list1My tongue had a blue tint after I was finished! I liked it because I could honestly feel like my mouth was truly rinsed and all bacteria was flushed out.

My 2017 New Year’s Resolutions include better oral health and this is the rinse I’m going to rotate in with my whitening one. It makes me feel healthier and goes between my teeth to get the best clean.

I love that it keeps my breath fresh for over 4 hours even if I eat something, like breakfast! I’m good for an 11 am meeting still. I really enjoyed this wash, and think you need to know what you’re ingredients are in a wash before you try something new, especially if you’re sensitive to certain ones.

I can’t wait to start using this every other day because it makes me feel confident and gives my teeth extra protection as I’m a daily coffee drinker. Thanks, Listerine!

Secret® Outlast Xtend™ Clear Gel

I received a sample of Secret® Outlast Xtend™ Clear Gel through Crowdtap to facilitate my review. This review is 100% honest.

sec1

At the gym loving my sample of Secret!

I haven’t used gel in a long time, so I was intrigued to try out Secret’s as I’m most familiar with their line. I have to say, I somewhat liked it, but it’s not my favorite.

Take $1 off now at Amazon!

I like that I can apply it while my underarms are still wet and it seems to dry with my body after a quick afternoon shower. I also really enjoyed that it came off easily in the shower or prior to so that way I didn’t muck my razor with deodorant like I do with the stick.

I could feel that it was different as soon as I put it on.

If you’ve been looking to try a new type of deodorant, it has amazing reviews and many benefits:

  • Keep your cool with protection that goes on dry
  • 48-hour odor protection keeps you fresh all day
  • pH-balanced formula helps stop odor before it starts
  • Sport Fresh scent: Designed with athletes in mind

On my way out, confident with Secret!

My real qualm with Secret® Outlast Xtend™ Clear Gel was that it didn’t seem to outlast anything for me. I felt like I’d have to reapply this after 8 hours, which I don’t have to with a stick. It didn’t exactly hold it’s amazing floral scent through the day and that may be due to my natural biology. I didn’t stink, but I’d like to have capture that scent all day like other deodorants.

Overall, I think it’s a great deodorant and think I may have just tried one that wasn’t for me. I’d love to try the Olay version and think I might be adding to my cart ASAP.

Häagen-Dazs

I received a sample of Häagen-Dazs through Crowdtap. This review is 100% honest.

haa This couldn’t have come at a better time! I am majorly needing ice cream and Häagen-Dazs has been my favorite for a long time. I prefer it over Ben & Jerry’s pints any day.

I have needed chocolate and been low on estrogen, if you catch my drift… so I went for the Destination Series “Mayan Chocolate.” I wanted to go out of the box for something spicy and I thought this was perfect. I wanted to see what they could do because I knew they would keep it sweet. Low and behold, I forgot about sweet spice… cinnamon. Ugh. I don’t like cinnamon whatsoever usually. Especially not with chocolate!

How they roped me in:

“the distinctive taste of our mexican-inspired chocolate ice cream is balanced with a warming touch of cinnamon spice, rich fudge, and chocolate truffle chunks. the result is a deliciously complex flavor for the serious chocolate lover.”

I thought “a touch” is not a lot. I guess it’s not, but I am not a fan of cinnamon whatsoever in chocolate I learned. I was supposed to get Brownies A’La Mode. It’s my absolute favorite of the Destination Series I’ve tried. It’s like a better version of milk and brownies. It emulates a good cup of ice cold milk. It’s wonderful on the tongue and the aftertaste. haa4

It seemed to get better in a cake cone, but I love cake cones, so my perception could have been skewed.

I think this would be an awesome truffle base or some type of sweet recipe base to just drown out the cinnamon to a real hint and keep the rich chocolate truffle pieces and fudgy ice cream taste all intact.

I really would have enjoyed this ice cream without the cinnamon in it, with anything else, so Cinnamon lovers rejoice, you got another great addition to your family of sweet spicy goodies.

I’ll stick to trying the Caramel Cone the next time I go… they’re still on sale at Heinen’s, I better stock up 😉

Might as well try with this one.

Advil® PM

I received free samples of Advil® PM through Crowdtap. The following review is 100% honest.

ad1 I love Advil products, but I purposefully haven’t tried the Advil® PM version. I don’t need a sleep aid or if I do, I use melatonin. Advil PM contains the sleep aid diphenhydramine citrate, which as you see from WebMD is a very common antihistamine. It’s basically Benadryl with ibuprofen. I love ibuprofen and, therefore regular Advil, especially with the quick dissolving coating, but these sleep aids were not for me.

I tried only one capsule and it helped me to fall asleep just fine. However, I didn’t wake up pleasantly. I was groggy. I was without pain, but mildly irritable. It helped as my antihistamine for the day; however, my usual coffee couldn’t even perk me up. I won’t be taking one of these on a weeknight again unless I can sleep in. I’ll stick with my 1 mg melatonin and Advil®.

Garnier Whole Blends

I was sent complimentary samples of Garnier Whole Blends through Crowdtap. In exchange, I was to share and provide an honest opinion.

We absolutely loved this idea and the recipes were sensationally good! We chose to make the Chewy Coconut Granola Bars. THEY WERE SO SIMPLE AND DELICIOUS!

gwb11

It was an amazing idea to make a great-for-you “wholesome”recipe while we discussed the new Whole Blends products! Garnier Whole Blends are “wholesome loving care blended for naturally beautiful hair.” My sisters and I were excited to try them thinking they were made with whole ingredients of some sort. We were sorely mistaken. These are filled with many chemicals that I know aren’t good for your hair and just make it shelf-stable for a long time.

gwb13 We received three varieties:  Hydrating Hair Care Coconut Water & Vanilla Milk Extracts, Repairing Hair Care Honey Treasures, and Smoothing Hair Care Coconut Oil & Cocoa Butter Extracts. I really wanted to try the Refreshing Hair Care Green Apple and Green Tea Extracts.

First night, I tried the Repairing Hair Care. I fell in love with the scent immediately. I reviewed the ingredients and squeezed half the packet into my hand, immediately, I honestly felt like it had honey in it. It was gelatinous-like and thick, I plopped it in my hair and began to lather. The fragrance is amazing. The actual shampoo is very thick, it was so thick for me that I had a hard time rinsing it to feel like I did it thoroughly.

gwb1

Honey Treasures.

I reluctantly tried the conditioner and couldn’t bear putting it through my hair so I rinsed while I put it in. It’s not actually sticky, but the way it clings to my hair made me not like it whatsoever. It was hard to rinse and get the benefit of what it was repairing because my hair started to come out with all the working I was doing trying to rinse it gently and properly enough. However, in the end, I liked how it made my hair shimmer and it did look healthier, as if it helped weed out split-ends.

gwb2I heard very good things about it from my other friends, though. I shared the samples with them as well. We didn’t make a recipe, unfortunately, but we did discuss the shampoos extensively. Coling (pictured to the left) LOVES Garnier and swears by it, while our best friend CJ has been skeptical of Garnier for a while. Samantha said she used to love Garnier, but hasn’t seen anything new and this was perfect to try! So, we had three for each side. Colin: positive all around and loved the Hydrating one most. CJ liked the fragrance but agreed with me that they were gelatinous-like and unpleasant to use. Samantha loved them, she had said she diluted hers with her own concoction and we thought that was pretty clever.

gwb3

Discussing the shampoos has been the most fun, it got us talking about other Garnier products we love, like the Sheer Set Hairspray! (It’s a staple in all our homes.)

Next, I tried the Smoothing Hair Care. This one gave me a much better experience. I first adored the fragrance much more. It’s comforting with the prominent cocoa butter. It was lighter in my hair focusing on, in a way, exfoliating my hair. I could feel it skim over the shafts of my hair to the tips and remove all the frizzy ones. I loved the conditioner because it was light. It moisturized and worked to keep the frizz out or help existing hair from the splashes of the hot shower. This one felt like a comforting hair masque. I thought these would be expensive for drug store prices, easily around a $12 conditioner; however, I was mistaken. These are super affordable and under $10, some even under $5! I’m sure coupons will be arriving soon and I’m planning on going for the Refreshing one after liking the Smoothing system.

Getting Ready with Garnier!

I am hoping the Refresh has some scalp benefits, but I think that’s what the whole line lacks and Garnier, generally, doesn’t have much to offer for those with scalp issues or want to help the foundation of the head.

gwb9

I am not going to try the Hydrating Hair Care. My sister said she loved the scent, but her hair didn’t feel miraculously hydrated. The shampoo had a decent lather and it rinsed easily enough, but it didn’t feel exactly “hydrated.” It softened the ends, but lacked body to help her long strands. The conditioner helped a lot by removing quite a bit of hair, and it covered her whole head pretty well. She liked the vanilla undertones and could feel those really came through after she rinsed.

I think these were a bit lackluster. Wholesome entails that things are natural and really good for you to me. Garnier somewhat exploited the term to me, but the recipes were stellar. I liked how they tried to say that the fragrance is what the shampoo was actually made of, but that was simply misleading.

JERGENS® Wet Skin™ Moisturizer

I received JERGENS® Wet Skin™ Moisturizer for free through Crowdtap in exchange for my honest opinion.

jerg I love original JERGENS® with the cherry almond scent and the Ultra Healing variation so I was very excited for their “wet skin” version. I was so happy to see that they have a coconut oil type that is supposed to benefit my terrible eczema.

I’ve had eczema for the past 2 years and I can’t find any OTC moisturizers that work as well as my prescription. However, JERGENS® Wet Skin™ Moisturizer works very well on my arms and legs, I wish it was a bit more breathable for my sensitive chest that usually doesn’t respond as well to this oily base. I would say it differs from Nivea which was the original “shower” moisturizer that I tried. It differs in the way that it absorbs. JERGENS® Wet Skin™ Moisturizer is much oilier than Nivea which I don’t really like, but I bet it’s much better for my skin because my legs respond very well to it minimizing my worst eczema spots so I only have to spot treat with my prescription cream.

I feel much more confident in my skin with JERGENS and was able to finally sport gym shorts to the gym without worry that my legs would flake with dryness. I’d highly recommend it even if you have sensitive skin because it’s delicate enough to buff your entire human shell to luminous perfection!

Jergens keeps me confident!

Folgers® Coffeehouse Blend

I received complimentary K-Cups from Folgers through Crowdtap. My review is impartial and 100% my own.

folg

I used to never like Folgers, but ever since Black Silk came out, I’ve actually started to enjoy them and they are super affordable. Folgers® Coffeehouse Blend is a medium body that packs a nice rich, cafe like frothy sip.

folg3 I drink all my coffee black, but this one wouldn’t have been bad with a little French Vanilla creamer. I didn’t like sugar in it as it’s sweet enough for me in flavor. I loved the brewing aroma, and the flavor was smooth, complex, and breakfasty. I love how innovative and flexible Folgers has been. It was my dad’s favorite growing up, always brewed regular in his big green traveler Thermos that he took every morning to work.

It is always going to be my favorite value brand, and with so many different ways to decorate it, I am never going to get tired of it. They have been doing the Medium Dark roast extremely well and I appreciate how versatile they have been in this rocky market. It’s a classic, homey staple from my youth that has a fighting spirit to appeal to tastebuds of yet another generation.

I highly suggest if you love Breakfast blends. Folgers® Coffeehouse Blend needs to come out as a cold/iced brew next!

Trusty work BFF, black coffee.
