Breezy VoxBox

I received complimentary samples in the Breezy VoxBox through Influenster, a free sample program, to facilitate my honest review.

I received the following products and gave my impression accordingly:

  • Head & Shoulders® Volume Boost Anti Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner – I never thought I would find a shampoo that adds volume and alleviates my dry scalp symptoms, but leave it to Head & Shoulders to give me my dreams! I love this shampoo, hands down, it’s not drying and it leaves hair and scalp happy and gorgeous. I use this about 2-3 times a week currently as I wash my hair everyday (I know!), but I can only stand up to a day without washing. I’ve used in combination with my other shampoos and still yield great results that last. My hair is volumized, my scalp no longer flakes, and my whole head is grateful. As much as I adore the shampoo, the conditioner was a bit disappointing, but I’m not sure what I expected. I love the fragrance of this line, firstly. It’s extremely appealing. The conditioner has .5% less of the pyrithione zinc and you can somewhat tell. It doesn’t really moisturize the hair as it probably helps the scalp. It complements the shampoo well and I wouldn’t use it with any other shampoo unless necessary. I currently use it in tandem with the shampoo.. It helps to volumize my hair, remove flakiness from my scalp, and add to my whole head’s health. I’d highly suggest for anyone struggling with dry scalp and finding a shampoo/conditioner that gives your hair a little something, too.

  • 20170614_162753Nair Hair Remover Wax Ready Strips – Big thumbs down! I have used many wax removers and these just don’t cut it. I have no idea what adhesive they used, but it’s incredibly gooey! You keep most of it on your face and will be lucky if you remove any hair from face or bikini area. They don’t hold well no matter how perfectly you apply them and forget using it more than 2 times because they don’t stick after that. I will not be purchasing this as the price is not comparable to other drug mart wax strips that are more effective.

  • Origins Perfect World SPF 40 Age-Defense Moisturizer with White Tea – I don’t understand how this is a moisturizer. It reeks like sunscreen, sheens like it, and lasts like it. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good facial sunscreen, which this is close to had it not oiled up my T-Zone unlike some sheer facial sunscreens. This is thick, absorbs mediocrely, but protects very well. I wouldn’t buy this unless I was going to be outside in the sun with no makeup, but I wear makeup with sunscreen and this doesn’t moisturize well for application. IMG_20170721_113945_541
    • Origins Perfect World Age-Defense Eye Cream with SPF 20 – What a difference this eye cream is compared to the moisturizer! I really enjoyed it because it’s light like white tea and protects with SPF 20! It doesn’t sheen, it softens and felt like it lasted all day by blocking the sun from my blue eyes better than sunglasses! This is thin and water-like and absorbs quickly.

  • ProFoot Heel Rescue Foot Cream – I wasn’t sure about this cream as I have used many in the past and hate how they lingered and rubbed off on everything. ProFoot is different, but it’s imperative you wash your feet with warm water prior to application to real the full absorption and softening benefits.

20170718_094553It’s highly suggested for other rough areas, too, like elbows, knees, and hands. I couldn’t believe how well it worked on the first application. My callouses were moisturized and my feet felt happier immediately. I tried it on dry feet and the oils couldn’t absorb as well so you may get agitated if you try to walk with it on there. It’s incredibly affordable with unlimited uses that will continue to work on the toughest skin you have!

  • 20170603_203254Sour Punch Bites Ragin’ Reds – YUM! My boyfriend and I loved these! We took them to the Jack Johnson concert and passed them around to the delight of the crowd around us. I don’t like the tubular shape compared to the straw texture, but the flavor is completely there. Watermelon was my favorite.

  • Sour Punch Straws Pineapple Mango Chili – Disgusting… IMG_20170628_203947_439 Neither one of us liked these. The pineapple was extremely fake, mango anything is usually gross, and the chili was not methodically put in. You bite into it and it’s citrusy and then pure heat without any savory-ness that I believed this would provide. Do not even bother buying these.

This box was awesome for summer and we found some new things we loved, especially the Sour Punch Ragin’ Red Bites! Check out Influenster for yourself 🙂

Fierce Vox Box

I received a Fierce Vox Box for free with complimentary samples through Influenster to facilitate my review. The following review is authentic and real.

SheaMoisture Argan Oil & Almond Milk was a flop for me. Both products were incredibly heavy for me and the marshmallow extract pulled through above all other ingredients. I don’t believe sulfates are bad for my natural hair; rather, I think I need them to have manageable, clean hair and a refreshed scalp. fierce11

I couldn’t get into the shampoo because as soon as I applied it, it reeked of marshmallow extract which is completely stomach-turning to me. It was very earthy and fake. I was hoping it would diminish when I blew it dry with the creme, but the creme had the same fragrance and only added to the nausea. The good about this product is that it really does tackle anything bothering you from frizz to nattiness. I really loved how my hair looked right after drying it. It had volume, no frizz, and real body and style to it, but I could feel how downing it was immediately.

fierce5If I were to use it again, I have to use it diluted with another compatible product because this was simply too much for my delicate scalp and natural hair. I enjoyed my hair for about 3 hours and then it started to grease over with the amount of oil in it. You can see the time elapsed in my photos from a fresh blow out to it started to fall apart out and about. I also received a $1 off any SheaMoisture product that I gifted to a friend who expressed interest in trying this. I’m hoping she has a better experience to flaunt!

Vaseline is a timeless beauty staple that I have grown up with. My mother always had a couple of tubs in the house for all kinds of reasons: treating burns, beauty tricks, and diminishing the imperfections of healing wounds (no scars). It’s an amazing healer and protector. I sing its praises as the best rescue moisture for chapped lips.

It is petroleum jelly so be wary that it’s incredibly thick and takes a while to absorb, but once it does, it brings skin back to life. I like to use a little mixed with my favorite lotion right out of the shower to help absorb while I dry. It cures my eczema and winter dry skin on my shins and face. I developed eczema around 24 and this has been the only natural moisturizer that treats it as I didn’t like using the steroidal creams due to a predisposed hormonal imbalance. It doesn’t cause me to break out as I use very thin layers on the sides of my nose only.  I’d highly suggest you have this around if you suffer from any of the above ailments, it’s wonderful and clean.

SinfulColors is a mediocre polish. It has fantastic colors, but it doesn’t last whatsoever and adds no real value to your nails in terms of care. I received Mint Chip, which was a better color than it looked outside the bottle.fierce9

It was to have a Matte finish, but it didn’t live up to its Pretty Vintage “matte and retro vibe” promises. This would be an excellent bottom coat for something spectacular, but alone it was lackluster at best. Anime may be a better line with the promises of iridescence. I wish that we would have gotten Mystique or Pride because it seems that the real value of these polishes is in the extremely beautiful colors.

Carefree Acti-Fresh Liners are the bare bones of a liner. I enjoy them for daily use because they keep you fresh without getting in the way of anything because they are so thin. They move with you, but stay stuck unlike some off-brands that curl and ride up when you work out. Since I exercise pretty vigorously daily, these are a godsend and I highly suggest them.

However, if you’re looking for something that absorbs more than sweat, look elsewhere because these are incredibly thin and only good for maintaining freshness rather than protection from leaks of any sort.

Madam C.J. Walker Softening & Silkening Brassica Oil was my hands-down favorite! It’s sugary, creamy, and soft with vibrant notes of vanilla, red velvet, cake, and candy. It’s not immature either, it’s perfectly playful. It smells like a heavenly bakery.  It is a lightweight oil that’s great for all hair types and was spectacular for mine.

madamA word of caution is that despite it being lightweight, you still must use sparingly and focus at the roots or you’ll end up with a grease ‘do rather than a brilliant shine and softened heat-styled hairdo. I use about 5-8 drops, absolutely no more than that, while it’s damp focusing on my roots . I work through my hair a bit and then moreso while I blow dry. Make sure you wash your brush out because it will stay trapped in there and wreck a future style.

It’s absolutely intoxicatingly delicious. I wanted this as a perfume it’s that sweet and delicate. The fragrance lasts and dries to a serene note while it leaves your hair moisturized, styled, soft, and beautifully shone. My hair had a mellow shine, felt moisturized,  and looked healthier after only one use. It softened my hair, straightened my wave, added some bonus volume, and made me not want to stop running my fingers through its silkiness! I cannot say praise this oil enough. I loved my hair for once!

Overall, I enjoyed this box, it portrayed a subtle fierceness with an emphasis on hair, skin, and nails.

L’OREAL EverPure Volume

I received complimentary EverPure Volume products through Influenster to facilitate my review. My review is honest.

I don’t normally use L’Oreal products, so I was intrigued to be chosen to try this line. It boasts that it doesn’t have harsh sulfates; however, I immediately noticed that it contains many alcohols. I washed my hair as usual and found that it was much lighter feeling than many volumizing shampoos.

The lotus flower fragrance was the real winner for me. It bloomed immediately as I lathered up and stayed with me after I rinsed and blow-dried (I also used the conditioner). It didn’t seem to volumize my hair at all in the way I thought it would and it aggravated my scalp, which it stated it took into consideration. I felt like a residue was left on my hair and since I don’t color it, I felt this product was completely wrong for me. I think those who color their hair would have a better experience than I did.

Not too impressed.

I knew something wasn’t right with the conditioner the moment I put it in after the shampoo. I was hesitant because it was very slick. I looked at the ingredients and saw why: alcohols abound again. It did have some positive notes, it softened my hair immediately and I began to question if it would really add light-weight volume as it felt very heavy. I rinsed as best as I could and still couldn’t get the feel of it off my hair. I decided to blow dry it.  I made sure to blow dry it correctly and found that these two left a weird feel on my hair like it was dry! It wouldn’t let me style at all (and came out as shown), my hair usually blows out straight and this combination made it blow out as if I let it towel dry!
No volume was added, my natural curl shined which was the extent of the good in this bottle. The fragrance wasn’t as bold and lasting as the shampoo either. I was very disappointed in this product overall and would not recommend it.

Maybelline #SuperStay24 LipColor

I received Maybelline’s Super Stay 24 Hour Longwear Lipcolor complimentary through Influenster in exchange for my honest trial and opinion.

I received both “Keep Up the Flame” – a deep red color, and “Constant Toast” – a nudish, pinkish color.

A night out in CLE

With 30 shades available, I’m going to be trying this again soon in different colors. The red is very deep and my most liked of the two. Constant Toast let me down because it’s not the nude I need for my extremely pale skin. Rather than toss, I’m going to gift it to another more fortunately colored woman to enjoy the heck out of. I absolutely love the pigmentation in both of the colors, it’s outstanding and really pops as you can see.

Constant Toast doing nothing for me…

The application was pretty easy if you paid close attention because the gloss applier is not one I typically use as I normally use lipstick. I used a translucent lip liner that helped a ton with bleeding or movement while I applied. I found that it instantly mattified after application, so bleeding wouldn’t be an issue. However it was very dry, so I applied the balm hoping for a better effect that I could rub my lips together but I thought that it might make my lips flake and the more you do it, the likelier they will. Mine flaked about 4 hours in, but I’ll take a good, never-fading 4 hours. It’s a decent lip product, great for any time.

I found it best for an evening out, but it didn’t hold up too badly when I had to reapply on the go at Disney Parks.

Election day spent at Disney parks with Keep Up the Flame.

I think this is perfect for sectioned events like morning or evening because it won’t last the entire day without a full reapplication. It flakes terribly and dries badly that you need to take it completely off (I had tried to reapply the lip color over my cracked coat and when it dried, it completely took off both coats which was much easier than washing it off!) My other qualm was that it’s horrible to remove thoroughly! It takes a strong makeup remover with a good elbow grease to get this off all the way.

Completely washed out against my skin tone.

I have to say overall I did like these products and truly love Maybelline. I find their products to work well on my skin and make me feel more confident and beautiful. These colors made me bolder and worked for different uses. They always have products that I can apply across my routines.

Check out their full selection of shades on! I think I’m in love with Always Blazing and Unlimited Raisin. Let me see your pictures if you’ve gotten different colors in my comments below, please!

L’Oreal EverCrème Cleansing Balm

I received a complimentary bottle of L’Oreal’s EverCrème Cleansing Balm through Influenster to facilitate testing. My review is 100% my own. #CleansingBalms

Evercreme will help me battle frizz and rowdy ends.

Evercrème Cleansing Balm is a very new and interesting type of product for me. I haven’t used this thick of rinsing hair product, consistency, or benefits! L’Oreal has 3 different specialties for this balm: EverCurl, Evercrème, and EverPure. The lines each cater to different hair types: curly, dry & damaged, colored, respectively. I have some dry and damaged hair as you can see in the picture left of this. My hair has always been difficult to manage. It’s gotten better since I’ve been cutting it more often and shorter, so I’m going to continue that and treat with continuous use of Evercrème to restore it and have more confidence in my hair.

I had tried to intertwine this and the Extraordinary Hair Care line. I have liked the combination so far! I think it’s helping to rehydrate the dryness.

lor4 L’Oreal Evercrème has 6 amazing benefits:

  • Cleanse – gently refreshes strands, which is a bonus in a conditioner for me.
  • Treat – prevents strands from experience breakage.
  • Soften – Makes current strands silky smooth and pillowy.
  • Condition – Does everything in one!
  • Detangle – awesome adult detangler, I don’t have to spray anything separately and it doesn’t leave a residue, it simply makes strands more manageable.
  • Shine – Gives a natural sheen and gloss to your ‘do that will have people talking!

The biggest bonuses are that it is sulfate-free, silicone-free, dye-free, contains no harsh salts, no parabens, and it’s 100% vegan all at an affordable price and accessible retailers!

I have found that my hair is more manageable, feels more nourished, and isn’t as damaged looking. I always saw stripping or residue, but this hits the sweet spot.

I have seen the results I wanted. My only complaint is that it takes a lot of pumps to get the amount you need and I find I’m using a lot it.

I’m going to have to look for reviews of the other two lines because I was interested to see if they experienced better manageability or what it helped to target for them.

Silk’n VoxBox from Influenster

I was chosen to receive a complimentary Silk’n Flash&Go Express through Influenster for testing purposes. All thoughts expressed in this blog are honest and my own.

Unveiling the Silk’n VoxBox

I was so excited when I was chosen for the #SilknSmooth VoxBox. If you follow my YouTube, you can see that I have battled hirsutism for quite some time now. My grandmother was fresh off the boat, Eastern European genes, so hirsutism is genetic and the only option was to have laser/cosmetic hair removal since I have already turned down the steroids used to treat my adrenal glands. I filled out the questionnaire and matched the candidate they were hoping would test this product.

silk3Immediately, I began to investigate what this product was. I saw tons of positive reviews from all kinds of people using it for different reasons. It’s a safe, FDA-approved hair removal laser that you can use at home. It can be used anywhere on the body. It has a very small window for precautions, but with enough time, it will dramatically reduce or eliminate hair growth in the areas you target.

To start, I worked on what’s been the most bothersome for me: my chin. silk1

I jumped on the chance to get rid of any hair. I have been using it for about 2 months now and I’m seeing some results, it’s not completely eliminating, but it has made it less coarse and it seems to be reducing its visibility. I have tried it on my belly and lower extremities, but plan to give more attention and careful treatment after I see great results with my face. I have to say I thought that I would start seeing more by now, but I think I haven’t been using it as much as I should.

The directions state that you must use it on the lowest setting for the first few times and gradually work up to level 5 it has. I did as it suggested and I have been doing it once a week since they said do not do it more than that. Some Youtubers were doing it every other day, which I’m not sure if that’s what’s recommended for thick, coarse hair, but I may boost my treatment times to see better results.

silk3 It’s been extremely easy to use and I use it right after my shower at night so I don’t have any adverse reactions that I may have to deal with. It doesn’t hurt at all and it takes me about 30 second to treat my whole area because you are not supposed to “overlap.” You need to have clean, dry, freshly shaven skin so that the laser can operate optimally. It aims to burn/zap the hair follicle and it’s attracted to the melanin that’s in the dark hair. With 5 levels, it’s still not near what you’d get in a salon because they need to keep this safe and for anyone to use, so you shouldn’t have any worries of burning yourself unless you are holding the lamp right next to your skin and doing “pulsing” treatment, I typically just do the linear treatment and don’t “glide” along my face and keep zapping. It’s easier for me.

I have been updating my Youtube with my treatment/review sessions every other week or so. I also posted a short video on my Instagram. I’m very pleased with the product and hope to get even better results soon. Instagram Review

I love Silk’n as a brand and really enjoy the different products they have come out with. They have wonderful promos going on right now for the holiday, but if you stumble onto this blog after the holiday, go ahead and use promo code “NOHAIR” before 1/30/16 to get 10% off any product. I promise you’ll love it.

#BeautifulLengths Donation

This year, Pantene is launching the #8or8 campaign, encouraging people nationwide to donate 8 inches of hair or $8 to help create even more wigs.

I was chosen and made aware of the program through Influenster in a Virtual VoxBox. I love when I’m chosen for these because they are usually focused around social messages and I couldn’t be more thrilled that it’s from brands I frequently buy or love the most.

The #BeautifulLengths program began in 2006 to raise awareness for hair loss for those battling cancer. They have created more than 42,000 wigs from more than 800,000 generous hair donations from people across the United States and Canada. I was excited to take part this year because my hair is very healthy, grows quickly, and is super thick. I noticed some wonderful bobs this year that I actually wanted to mimic if I could. I admired Ciara’s and Emma Stone’s hair styles. I loved the color that Ci added and have added highlights and low lights before that I would be comfortable doing again. I knew I couldn’t mimic Emma’s because her natural color red is really what makes this hair style work.

Ultimately, I did my own thing so I could refine it a bit more before my next chop. I had enough to donate and walked out with a cut that’s super cute for the beginning of winter to stuff in knit caps. pant1
